Renowned actor John Travolta is set to receive a lifetime achievement award at the upcoming Torino Film Festival in Turin. This tribute coincides with the second international screening of his directorial debut, “Propeller One-Way Night Coach,” which originally premiered out-of-competition at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
Celebrating Hollywood’s Iconic Performer
The Torino Film Festival, recognized as Italy’s leading platform for emerging directors and independent cinema, highlighted Travolta’s impressive filmography. Notable films in his career range from classics like “Saturday Night Fever,” “Grease,” and “Urban Cowboy” to iconic hits such as “Pulp Fiction,” “Get Shorty,” “Face/Off,” and “Hairspray.”
“Thanks to his charisma, the characters he has played have come off the silver screen and revolutionized our habits, our gestures, our hairstyles, the way we walk,” remarked Giulio Base, artistic director of the Torino Film Festival. He noted that Travolta’s work reflects the restlessness and desires of entire generations, effectively illustrating the interplay of the performer’s talent and celebrity stature over the decades.
About ‘Propeller One-Way Night Coach’
“Propeller One-Way Night Coach” is adapted from Travolta’s 1997 children’s book and has been available for streaming on Apple TV since May 29. The film’s logline describes it as a journey set in the golden age of aviation. It follows a young aviation enthusiast, Jeff, and his mother on a transformative cross-country trip to Hollywood, turning an ordinary flight into an extraordinary adventure filled with charming flight attendants, larger-than-life passengers, and memorable moments that shape the boy’s future.
