A Stellar Cast and Story
Set during the final days of American colonial rule, “Quezon” portrays the intricate political journey leading up to Manuel L. Quezon’s victory in the 1935 presidential elections. The film explores his encounters with pivotal figures such as American Governor-General Leonard Wood, played by Iain Glen, and political adversaries like Emilio Aguinaldo and Sergio Osmeña.
The exceptional ensemble cast includes Benjamin Alves as the young Quezon, Mon Confiado as Aguinaldo, Romnick Sarmenta as Osmeña, and Karylle as Aurora Quezon. Additional performances by JC Santos, Jake Macapagal, and others add depth to the film’s exploration of a vital historical period.
A Milestone for Filipino Cinema
Produced in part by support from the Film Development Council of the Philippines and CreatePHFilms, “Quezon” marks the conclusion of TBA Studios’ acclaimed “Bayaniverse” trilogy. This series began with the 2015 blockbuster “Heneral Luna” and continued with “Goyo: The Young General” in 2018. With “Quezon,” TBA Studios aims to continue its legacy of bringing significant historical narratives to both local and global audiences.
Producer Daphne Chiu-Soon expressed her excitement, stating, “We’re thrilled that ‘Quezon’ will finally be seen by Filipinos around the world— and not just by the Filipino community, but also by fans of historical and political cinema. This is a world-class production made for the big screen, and we’re proud to share this important story with a global audience.”
