Jeremy Allen White‘s captivating interpretations of Bruce Springsteen classics are set to be a highlight of the Deliver Me From Nowhere soundtrack, releasing fully on December 5 via Columbia Records. This eagerly anticipated collection serves as the musical backdrop for the biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, spotlighting the journey behind one of Springsteen’s most iconic albums. The soundtrack not only offers a fresh take on seminal tracks but also showcases White’s musical prowess, promising a unique experience for Springsteen enthusiasts and new listeners alike.
The Heart of Nebraska
The majority of Jeremy Allen White’s renditions stem from Springsteen’s groundbreaking 1982 album, Nebraska, which serves as the central theme of Deliver Me From Nowhere. White’s versions breathe new life into these classic songs, offering a fresh perspective on “Nebraska,” “Atlantic City,” and “Mansion on the Hill,” among others. These tracks are integral to the storytelling of the film, which portrays the creative process behind Nebraska. Also featured are two notable tracks from Springsteen’s subsequent 1984 blockbuster Born in the U.S.A., including its iconic title track and the haunting “I’m on Fire.”
Blues and Rock & Roll Influence
Adding to the rich tapestry of the soundtrack, White tackles renditions of early rock & roll and blues standards that Springsteen has famously covered. His interpretations of Little Richard’s “Lucille” and John Lee Hooker’s “Boom Boom” add a nostalgic yet vibrant touch to the collection. Intriguingly, the inclusion of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put a Spell on You” provides a surprising twist, as there’s no known record of Springsteen having ever performed it publicly. These tracks highlight White’s flexibility as a musician and contribute to the album’s depth and diversity.
Collaborative Magic
Produced by Dave Cobb, the Deliver Me From Nowhere soundtrack is a collaborative effort featuring contributions from artists such as Rival Sons singer Jay Buchanan, and Greta Van Fleet’s Jake and Sam Kiszka. These musicians, along with bassist Aksel Coe and keyboardist Bobby Emmett, join forces with White on tracks like “Lucille,” “Boom Boom,” and “I Put a Spell on You,” enhancing the album’s rich soundscape.
Anticipation Builds for Film and Soundtrack
The film Deliver Me From Nowhere is slated for release on October 24, with five tracks from the soundtrack dropping on the same day. The full soundtrack will be available in digital format, and on CD and vinyl, starting December 5. Alongside Jeremy Allen White, the film stars Jeremy Strong as Springsteen’s longtime manager Jon Landau, with a talented ensemble cast including Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, Odessa Young, Gaby Hoffman, Marc Maron, and David Krumholtz. Directed by Scott Cooper and based on Warren Zanes’ book, the film promises to deliver a compelling narrative centered around one of music history’s pivotal moments.
