The team behind this ambitious project has recently revealed captivating character posters, creating a stir among cinephiles. Previously, audiences were treated to glimpses of Kiara Advani as Nadia, Huma Qureshi as Elizabeth, and Nayanthara as Ganga. Now, the spotlight is on Tara Sutaria’s Rebecca. The portrayal showcases a character merging fragility with resilient strength, suggesting a complex narrative of vulnerability juxtaposed with an instinct for authority and survival.
Tara Sutaria made a remarkable entry into cinema with her debut in “Student of the Year 2” in 2019, which earned her the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut. Her versatile performances in action-packed films like “Marjaavaan,” “Heropanti 2,” and “Ek Villain Returns” have established her as a dynamic actress. With the survival thriller “Apurva” in 2023, she demonstrated a broader dramatic prowess. “Toxic” represents her inaugural pan-India project, marking a significant step in her evolving career.
Yash, famed for his role in the “K.G.F” series, stands as a powerhouse in the Indian film landscape. His portrayal of Rocky Bhai has broken box-office records, pushing the franchise to become one of the highest-grossing in Indian history. Beyond the “K.G.F” phenomenon, Yash’s early work in Kannada cinema, with hits like “Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari” and “Googly,” has highlighted his versatility and acting depth.
Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, “Toxic” is poised to be a groundbreaking venture for Kannada cinema. This project, co-written by Yash and Mohandas, is pioneering as the first Indian film simultaneously written and shot in Kannada and English, with plans for multiple dubbed editions across major Indian languages.
Director Geetu Mohandas shared insights into her collaboration with Tara Sutaria, stating, “I’ve always felt an instinctive love to protect Tara… She observed more than she spoke. She listened more than she revealed. When she finally stepped into her performance, what emerged was nothing short of breathtaking.” Her words hint at a performance bound to captivate audiences.
The technical team behind “Toxic” boasts celebrated talents such as Indian National Film Award-winning cinematographer Rajeev Ravi and composer Ravi Basrur. The film’s editing is handled by Ujwal Kulkarni, with production design by T.P. Abid. The action sequences promise high-octane excitement, choreographed by Hollywood’s J.J.
