Collaborating with Panick Entertainment, an emerging publisher specializing in horror and sci-fi, Dastmalchian is bringing a fresh narrative to life, leveraging his rich experience in acting and storytelling.

The Creative Team Behind ‘The Accessories’

Dastmalchian, known for his roles in “The Life of Chuck” and “Dexter: Resurrection,” is co-creating and co-writing “The Accessories” with collaborator Leah Kirkpatrick. This five-issue mini-series will be officially revealed at his panel during San Diego Comic-Con. Illustrator Patrick Piazzalunga joins the team to bring the eerie tale to the page, with Panick Entertainment set to publish it next year. Launched last year, Panick was founded by industry veterans with roots in companies like DC, focusing on compelling horror and science fiction stories.

Intriguing Plot and Characters

The focus of “The Accessories” is on beloved side characters from horror lore: Igor, Renfield, and Mrs. Hyde. These classic figures, who have long supported infamous villains like Dracula and Dr. Jekyll, are finally stepping out of the shadows. The storyline follows their quest for independence after a lifetime of servitude, culminating in a thrilling mix of horror and dark comedy. The narrative explores their transformation into reluctant heroes, as they navigate through a world fraught with monster-hunters and their vengeful former masters.

David Dastmalchian’s venture into comic writing is an extension of his illustrious career in film, having worked with renowned directors such as James Gunn, Christopher Nolan, and Denis Villeneuve. Beyond his cinematic roles, he has developed notable works like “Count Crowley,” a horror comic published by Dark Horse. His commitment to storytelling across different media continues with “The Accessories,” which may expand into films, TV, and games through Panick’s broader platform strategy.

The first issue of “The Accessories” is slated for release on June 2, 2026, and promises to be a riveting addition to the horror genre. Fans can get an exclusive first look at the series below.
