Dave Bautista and Leila George are checking in to “Road House 2.”
Bautista has officially signed a deal to join the previously announced Jake Gyllenhaal in the sequel from Amazon MGM. Reviving interest from its predecessor directed by Doug Liman in 2024, the project aims to invigorate the classic narrative.
The sequel will be helmed by Ilya Naishuller, known for works like “Nobody” and “Heads of State.” While specific character and plot details are still under wraps, the script is being crafted by Will Beal. Producers include Charles Roven and Alex Gartner of Atlas Entertainment, along with Gyllenhaal and Josh McLaughlin’s Nine Stories.
Australian-born George is currently immersed in production on Ryan Murphy’s “American Love Story,” portraying Kelly Klein, confidante and ex-wife of designer Calvin Klein. Her recent performance in Alfonso Cuaron’s Apple TV+ series “Disclaimer” earned her a Critics Choice Award nomination. George is represented by WME, Strand Entertainment, United Agents in the U.K., and United Management in Australia.
Bautista is fresh off a cameo appearance in Paramount’s relaunched “The Naked Gun” spoof franchise. His upcoming projects include “Trap House” and Amazon MGM Studios’ “The Wrecking Crew.” Represented by WME and attorney Karl Austen, Bautista continues to expand his dynamic filmography.
According to data released by Amazon MGM, the original “Road House” was a global sensation, amassing 80 million views within its first two months of release. This sets high expectations for the sequel as it brings together an exciting mix of new and returning talent.
