Shared Success with Renowned Producer Dan Nigro

Chappell Roan shares a creative connection with producer Dan Nigro, who is also known for his work with pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo. Dan discovered Olivia Rodrigo in 2020, captivated by a clip of her performing the then-unreleased song “Happier” on Instagram. Shortly thereafter, they collaborated on the iconic “Driver’s License,” which skyrocketed Olivia to stardom.

While Dan was achieving success with Olivia, Chappell Roan was independently honing her craft in Missouri. Upon returning to Los Angeles, she reconnected with Dan, leading to an introduction to Olivia Rodrigo. The trio quickly formed a close bond, highlighted by Chappell’s role in Olivia’s tours, which marked significant milestones in her burgeoning career as a Grammy winner.

Opening for Olivia Rodrigo’s Major Tours

Chappell Roan’s connection with Olivia Rodrigo extended onto the stage, where she opened for Olivia’s “Sour” Tour in San Francisco in May 2022. Additionally, she joined the first leg of Olivia’s “GUTS” world tour in 2024. These performances provided Chappell with unparalleled exposure and the opportunity to captivate large audiences, setting her apart as a dynamic force in the music industry.

Reflecting on this whirlwind experience, she expressed, “I was like, ‘Oh my god’…I’ve only played my first headline show last May, and to go from, like, 200 people to 20,000 in less than two years is very intense and fast.” During a November 2023 interview on Triple J radio, she shared, “But I’m so excited because I opened for her one time in San Francisco last May as well, and it was 9,000 [people]. It was a lot less, but the energy was so electric because a lot of her fans are younger than my fans.”

The collaboration with Olivia Rodrigo and the support from audiences during these tours have been instrumental in shaping Chappell Roan’s journey as a Grammy winner and a rising star in the music world.
