Sevdaliza is redefining womanhood through her latest album, Heroina, which showcases her artistic prowess and celebrates femininity in its many forms. Released this Friday, the experimental singer’s third LP highlights powerful collaborations with notable artists like Karol G, Kenia Os, Pabllo Vittar, and Tokischa. The album stands as an opus of empowerment, embracing diverse female voices and energies from around the globe.
Sevdaliza’s Vision in Heroina
In a press release, Sevdaliza described her creative process for Heroina as a global journey, weaving together different energies and frequencies. “They carry the same thread that’s always been with me,” she says, emphasizing themes of humanity, resilience, and the societal forces molding women and queer identities. Despite these challenges, the album seeks liberation while acknowledging the limits of freedom, expertly balancing surrender and resistance.
Powerful Collaborations
The 13-track project features hits like “Alibi,” a collaboration with Brazilian drag icon Pabllo Vittar and French singer Yseult, and “Ride or Die, Pt. 2,” where Sevdaliza teams up with Puerto Rican rapper Villano Antillano and Dominican sensation Tokischa. Karol G joins for the electrifying track “No Me Cansaré,” while Kenia Os, La Joaqui, and Eartheater contribute their unique sounds, making Heroina a vibrant tapestry of female empowerment.
A Celebration of Womanhood
On Instagram, Sevdaliza highlighted the album’s featured artists as representing various aspects of femininity: resilience, sensuality, and independence. “Together, they form a collective voice that challenges traditional narratives and celebrates the power of the feminine in all its forms,” she shared. Heroina is a bold statement on liberation and the dynamic nature of womanhood.
Heroina is Sevdaliza’s first album since 2020’s Shabrang and follows her 2022 EP Raving Dahlia. The new album not only marks a significant milestone in her career but also underscores her commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive narrative in music.
