After stepping into a new chapter of life, former Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has exchanged her iconic Wisteria Lane for a more picturesque setting. The actress opened up about her choice to leave Los Angeles in a recent interview with Marie Claire in November 2024, explaining, “I had my whole adult life here.” However, she noted that the city’s atmosphere had shifted over the years, driven by various factors, including the pandemic.
Changing Times in California
Reflecting on her time in California, Eva acknowledged that the region was undergoing significant changes even before COVID-19. “The vibe was different,” she remarked, adding that the challenges of homelessness and high taxes further contributed to her feelings about the state. “It just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.”
A New Home Abroad
For the past few years, Eva, along with her husband José Bastón and their son Santiago, has been dividing their time between Mexico and Spain. “I’m privileged,” she shared, expressing gratitude for the ability to travel and live in different countries. “Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”
Not a Political Move
Despite the tumultuous political climate in the U.S., Eva clarified that her move wasn’t motivated by the political environment or the re-election of President Trump. “I left because my work took me there,” she stated during an appearance on The View: Behind the Table podcast. Speaking about her projects, she revealed, “I’ve been shooting six months in Catalonia, then four months in Mexico for Searching for Mexico, then back to Spain. Now I’ve been there for years. So I just don’t like that it’s politicized.”
Staying Busy with New Ventures
Since relocating, Eva has remained active in her career with recent roles in Only Murders in the Building and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip. Her ability to adapt and flourish in new environments reflects her commitment to both her family and her craft.
